Black bloc tuesday
instagram based photographic performance, 2020
Black bloc tuesday is a continuing sub project of my instagram based phographic performance art project Clutter Covered Cranium https://www.instagram.com/clutterface/
It was initiated as my response to the blackout tuesday online protest/solidarity action/event and the questions doubts and ambiguities raised by it, however the form it takes is directly inspired by blackbloc protesters, and their efforts to protect themselves and others not just from the potential legal consequences of their actions (and the legality of civil disobedience is always ambiguous itself) but also from potentially violent reprisals from opposition forces. None of the images are ever entirely black, none are ever entirely monochrome there always a little light, some tiny glimmer of colour showing that this is a positive force that is bringing hope into the situation.
